Half of plant survival is what you put in the hole, the other half is how you put it in. We dig holes twice the rootball wide, amend the clay we've got here in North Alabama, set the crown at the right height, and mulch — not too deep, not against the trunk. Huntsville sits in zone 8a, which means hot humid summers and mild winters — we pick plants that are built for it so you're not fighting nature every season.

Fall and early spring are ideal — roots establish before summer heat hits. We install year-round in zone 8a, but we may recommend holding heat-sensitive plants until after the last frost in April.
What plants work best in Madison County's red clay?
Loropetalum, dwarf abelia, knockout roses, sunshine ligustrum, and native-adjacent choices that handle clay and humidity. We amend beds with compost at install and pick varieties sized for how they'll look in three years, not three weeks.
Do you remove old shrubs before installing new ones?
Yes. We pull out dead or overgrown plants, grind stumps if needed, amend the soil, and install at proper depth and spacing. We haul away debris — you don't end up with a pile at the curb.
How long does a typical plant installation take?
A single front bed runs a day. Full-property installs with multiple zones take two to four days depending on plant count and bed prep. We'll give you a timeline in your quote.
